I'm thinking/hoping this will be something more along the lines of a P.D. James novel than an Alexander McCall Smith novel. Rowling specializes much more in excitement, suspense, and intrigue than does Smith (am I the only one who finds his novels pleasant but rather dull?). I had long hoped that once Rowling finished the Harry Potter series she'd transition into the mystery genre. I believe her style and skills will be very well suited to mysteries, and I can't wait to read this novel.

Hi,

I also reviewed this book recently here: mysterytribune[dot]com/2012/02/17/review-catch-lisa-gardner/

I personally think even though Lisa has her own loyal base of fans and they might enjoy Catch Me, the plot is a bit formulaic.

Also after reading several of her books, the familiar angles such as dysfunctional families, danger and violent confrontation feel like fluff.

Nevertheless, I agree that this was a page turner and full of suspense.

WOW!! I discovered this series about a year ago on my brand new Nook. I read the description of the first book, and thought it sounded like a good, short, fun book - perfect to get away from the stress and overblown drama of high school. I was right, this book was perfect!! It is one of my top-ranked books, and that is saying a lot. My other favorites include Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton, the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan, the Gemma Doyle series, and of course Harry Potter. These books are fun, flirty, and most importantly ADDICTING. I highly recommend them whenever any of my girlfriends asks for a good book to read - which happens quite often, I might add. The High Heels Mysteries are a must read for any girl, provided she is at least in high school. I am on the third in the series, and I cannot wait to read the rest of Gemma Halliday's works.
